Medical device regulatory readiness
Prepare your system and your team for the markets you serve.
Regulatory readiness starts with the requirements that apply to your products, activities, and intended markets. ES³ Solutions helps medical-device organizations assess gaps, strengthen operating evidence, and prepare their teams for audits and inspections across FDA, EU MDR, MDSAP, and other applicable regulatory frameworks.

Readiness connects requirements, practice, and evidence.
Move from a compliance statement to supporting evidence.
A revised procedure or a completed checklist is only part of the picture. Readiness also means that responsibilities are understood, applicable market requirements are built into processes, and records can be retrieved and explained. We assess those connections and help prioritize the work that matters before an audit, inspection, or market expansion.
When this support is useful
- You need to assess the system against requirements for a new or existing market.
- ISO 13485 certification needs to be considered alongside applicable FDA, EU MDR, or other market-specific obligations.
- An upcoming regulatory inspection, notified-body assessment, or MDSAP audit calls for a clearer view of readiness.
- Teams need practical experience coordinating audits and handling requests for evidence.
Scope of support
Work defined around your needs.
Choose a focused assessment or a broader implementation engagement. The scope and deliverables are agreed before work begins.
01
Market & requirements assessment
Define the products, activities, jurisdictions, and assessment criteria in scope. Identify applicable quality-system obligations and their connections to product documentation and post-market responsibilities.
02
Records & process review
Examine selected CAPA, complaint, supplier, training, management-review, and other records against the agreed criteria to assess whether documented processes are being carried out.
03
Prioritized remediation
Translate findings into defined actions, owners, dependencies, and evidence needed to demonstrate implementation.
Use practical walkthroughs and simulated audit activities to build experience in coordinating audits, responding to questions, and presenting evidence. Help teams develop a lasting understanding of how audits and inspections are conducted.
04
Team & audit preparation
Planning the engagement
A clear scope. Realistic priorities.
The scope begins with your products, organizational role, intended markets, and upcoming assessments. We confirm the applicable criteria and the support needed for each jurisdiction. Timing depends on existing evidence and the changes required. Where product submissions or specialist evaluations are needed, their scope and responsibilities are defined separately.
You work directly with the experienced consultant responsible for understanding the issue and delivering the agreed work.

Questions before you begin
Practical answers. A clearer starting point.
These answers provide general context. The right approach depends on your products, operations, and applicable requirements.
What does a medical device regulatory readiness assessment cover?
It starts with your products, activities, intended markets, and upcoming assessments. The agreed review can cover applicable requirements, quality-system processes, representative records, identified gaps, and the team’s ability to explain the work. Deliverables should state the criteria, sampling, limitations, and priorities.
Can one quality system support FDA, EU MDR, and MDSAP requirements?
A shared system can support multiple markets, but the applicable requirements must be identified and built into the relevant processes. Common controls can be used where appropriate; jurisdiction-specific obligations still need attention. MDSAP is an audit program, not a jurisdiction or a replacement for all product authorization requirements.
Does ISO 13485 certification establish regulatory readiness in every market?
No. Certification provides a quality-system framework, but each market has additional obligations. For example, FDA QMSR includes FDA-specific provisions, and EU MDR has its own requirements. The assessment should consider the organization’s activities and applicable obligations rather than relying on a certificate alone.
How can our team gain practical experience before an audit or inspection?
Walkthroughs, simulated interviews, document-retrieval exercises, and process-owner coaching can help people practice their roles. Teams learn how evidence is sampled, how process connections are explored, and how to answer questions accurately. Follow-up addresses both learning needs and weaknesses in the underlying processes.
Can regulatory readiness consulting guarantee approval or a successful audit?
No. Readiness work identifies and addresses concerns within a defined scope. Regulatory authorities, notified bodies, certification bodies, and recognized Auditing Organizations make their own decisions under the applicable framework. Preparation does not replace their assessments or decisions.
